Father 2 Father
Since 2008 the Franklin County Child Support Enforcement Agency has collaborated with the Columbus Urban League's innovative fatherhood initiative entitled 'Father 2 Father.' The agency has entered into a partnership agreement whereby clients of the FCCSEA eligible to participate in the Father 2 Father program will be referred for services through the Columbus Urban League. The Columbus Urban League and the FCCSEA are committed to helping non-custodial parents become more engaged in the lives of their children.
The Columbus Urban League will assist participants in the Father 2 Father program so they may become more self-sufficient and responsible by increasing their parenting and life skills and strengthening their employment potential. Services include establishing linkages with community, business, and professional organizations that can provide resources to the participant. In addition, Father 2 Father life coaches deliver comprehensive and coordinated services as part of the program.
There is an abundance of research suggesting a positive correlation between active involvement of the father in his child's life, regular financial as well as emotional support, and positive youth outcomes. The goal of this innovative program is to provide services to non-custodial parents early on in the history of their case to ultimately have a positive impact by reconnecting fathers with their children and providing the child with regular financial support.
